Even if drivers don't cause an accident, they are still required to stop at the scene. It is a driver's duty to make sure anyone involved in an accident is okay. Police should also be summoned for a report. Fleeing the scene of an accident is a crime.
A 22-year old man was injured in a car accident involving two vehicles traveling on Philadelphia's State Road. At around 10 p.m. on a recent evening, the pedestrian was walking along the road where he apparently walked into oncoming traffic. He was then hit by two vehicles, including one that fled the scene and is still being sought.
The pedestrian suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken Aria Health in critical condition after the accident.
The first vehicle to strike the pedestrian, a Toyota Corolla, was driven by a 51-year old man from Croydon. Witnesses describe the second vehicle as a dark SUV, which fled the scene of the crime. The hit-and-run driver was still being pursued by the police.
The driver of the Toyota was not expected to face any charges related to the accident. The man stayed at the scene e and reported relevant information and is not believed he hit the man with intent.
Witnesses on the scene were able to confirm the first driver's account of the accident. They were also able to give vague descriptions of the SUV. Following the accident, police were seeking any leads as to the whereabouts of the SUV driver.
